Vlasman plot

In the summer of 2008, a family of flax growers is starting the new season in West Flanders. Two brothers, Walter and Wilfer Devos, over seventy, are at the helm. For fifty years they have been working as if time has stood still: hard and relentless. The glory days of the Flemish flaxen are long gone, but the Devossen are tough survivors. Their world has not changed in half a century, but modern society with its rules and regulations is invading. Suddenly there is the word 'zone-foreign' and the government threatens to close their trusted workshop because it no longer complies with the legislation. The brothers refuse to lay down, but a closure seems inevitable. Vlasman is an ode to a lost generation of flaxmen and to a way of life that is about to disappear.
