Viagem ao Sol plot

Just after World War II, a group of 5,000 young children from Austria were sent to host families in Portugal to recover from the war. For most this meant a paradise stay: they were received by wealthy families in sunny villas with domestic staff. The contrast with their circumstances at home and the great differences between rich and poor in Portugal at the time made a deep impression on the Austrian toddlers. Filmmakers Susana de Sousa Dias and Ansgar Schaefer collected a large amount of images from that time from countless photo albums and archives.
