Turtle Rock plot

This documentary follows a family in Turtle Rock, a remote village in China, named after a nearby rock in the shape of a giant tortoise, for four seasons. For almost a century, only seven families with four surnames have lived here. Fleeing the war, they once migrated to this mountainous region, where the inhabitants have lived simple lives ever since. The grandmother of filmmaker Xiao Xiao is one of the first people to be born here. It is also the place where he grew up. This allows Xiao to get very close to the residents.
