Tunten Lügen Nicht plot
Four rebellious drag queens meet in West Berlin in the mid-eighties: Ichgola Androgyn, Bev Stroganov, Tima die Göttliche and Ovo Maltine. Since then, they have been enriching the German culture scene and the rest of the world. Rosa von Praunheim made a portrait of them. The four drag queens all have in common that they are not only show transvestites, but are also politically engaged: they provide information about AIDS, organize campaigns against gay violence, are active in the prostitution movement and in the fight against right-wing extremism and racism. All four of them lived on a houseboat and worked there on their shows and political actions. For all four, being a drag queen means much more than extravagant clothing and jewelry. Their first performance was in the Berlin gay center Schwuz. Performances in the rest of Berlin and Germany soon followed. Two of the 'ladies' carry the HIV virus and have been fighting for survival ever since.
