Tranceformer - A Portrait of Lars von Trier plot
The Swedish film journalist Stig Björkman was allowed to follow and record the doings of Lars von Trier for two years. This resulted in a documentary that unravels part of the mystery surrounding the Danish director. On the basis of interviews with friends, colleagues and actors with whom von Trier has worked and fragments from 8mm films he made in his youth, we gain insight into the way of thinking of the enfant terrible of the Danish film school. The portrait shows Von Trier as a challenging and provocative film-maker, but also as a withdrawn and enigmatic figure. This documentary tries to bring to light his way of thinking and the motivations for his working method. However, Von Trier warns us at the beginning of the film that we should not believe everything he says. It could well be a lie.
