To the Editor of Amateur Photographer plot

Founded in 1983, The Pavilion in Leeds was the first feminist photographers' collective in Europe. Filmmakers Luke Fowler and Mark Fell evoke the often controversial history of the gallery in their impressionistic tour of archive footage, minutes, newspaper articles, talk shows and personal memories. Photographers such as Angela Kingston and Caroline Taylor each choose a favorite photo that is characteristic of that turbulent period. Together they look back on the radical shift in photography, in which The Pavilion turned the prevailing patriarchal visual culture upside down, at a time that was full of social, political and economic changes.
