Lovers Rock, also known as Romantic Raggae, is a uniquely British sound developed in the 1970s and 1980s against a backdrop of riots and racial conflict. The music movement gave young people a chance to experience intimacy through a dance known as “scrubbing” at parties and clubs. This dance was a reflection of the events on the street. This documentary provides an overview of this often forgotten period in British music.
