The Soft Atlas of the Netherlands plot

Although you wouldn't expect it at first glance, the work of documentary artist Jan Rothuizen is inextricably linked to interactive storytelling. Rothuizen maps reality in a way that is difficult to define. Rothuizen's reality is personal and drawn, but not fictitious. Sometimes journalistic, but more often documentary and always surprising. Rothuizen himself describes his working method as a form of echolocation: his presence influences his environment, but it also changes him in reverse. He visits cities, neighbourhoods, squares and houses, and gradually notes what he sees, thinks and feels.
