The Muses of Bashevis Singer plot

"A harem full of translators - that would be heaven on earth." said the famous Polish-American writer Isaac Bashevis Singer (1902-1991), who won the 1978 Nobel Prize in Literature for his work written in Yiddish. Less well-known is that Singer's wish came true: throughout his working life, he liked to surround himself with talented young translators, with whom he sometimes had romantic relationships. These women were an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Singer, they were his muses. In this film, directors Galay and Betser show how the relationship between Singer and his translators worked by giving voice to the nine translators who are still alive.
