This documentary chronicles the major military operations during World War II of the Essex-class American aircraft carrier 'USS Yorktown' (CV-10), after its commissioning in 1943. The crew's lives are also documented from July 1943 to June 1944. There is an interview with Vice Admiral Marc A. 'Pete' Mitscher. The passage from Yorktown through the Panama Canal to the Pacific Ocean is shown. Furthermore, the attacks on the island groups occupied by the Japanese Marcus, Kwajalein, Truk and Tinian. There are also images of the great battle of the Philippine Sea. In addition to life on the aircraft carrier, images are also reported with 16 mm. recordings of the spectacular dogfights of the Yorktown pilots.
