The Electric Company's Greatest Hits and Bits plot
Between 1971 and 1985, few television shows promoted reading in such a creative and energetic way as The Electric Company. As a virtual "video" classroom that was both informative and entertaining, The Electric Company used sketches, animation, and music to popularize literature. A slew of teachers, including Bill Cosby, Morgan Freeman, and even Spiderman, provided children with all the tools they needed to improve their vocabulary and reading skills. This documentary also features a number of guest stars, including Gene Wilder, Joan Rivers, Mel Brooks and Tom Lehrer, to explain why reading is so much fun.
