The Boy Who Plays on the Buddhas of Bamiyan plot

It was world news: in March 2001, the Taliban blew up the immense Buddhas of Bamiyan. The hundreds of refugees who lived in the caves next door received significantly less attention. One of the cave dwellers is 8-year-old Mir. He and his family are closely followed for a year, as the camera bears witness to their struggle to survive. Between the events, stories of the relatives are mounted. They tell about the atrocities of the Taliban and about the period that it was still good before the Russians came.
