The Beasts of Halloween plot

As the dark nights of autumn creep in, so do the thoughts of monsters in the dark. Witch hour is approaching, a time when evil spirits can rise from the dead. That can only mean one thing: it's Halloween. Amid the witches, vampires and werewolves, we think of black cats, spiders, toads and bats. These animals have a close connection with the holiday. But why? Fact and fiction have merged to turn fascinating wild life into iconic legend. They are the real beasts of Halloween and in this documentary you will learn why.

This short documentary explains what connects the animal kingdom to the annual Halloween holiday. However, it fails to be innovative, as director Phil Coles primarily presents a compilation of acted and National Geographic-style footage over which a narrator talks to correlate with the narrative. At times, The Beasts of Halloween comes across as uninspired rambling, with angles that are most likely already clear to the viewer and feel more like emotion than hard facts.
