The Ballad of Shirley Collins plot

In the 1960s and 1970s, British singer Shirley Collins was one of the great names of the English folk revival. Her career ended abruptly and dramatically in the late 1970s when, after her husband left her for someone else, she was unable to sing due to the voice disorder dysphonia. The now eighty-year-old Collins recently picked up the thread again with a surprising new album, her first since 1978. This film shows how, uncertain and critical of herself, she records songs in her own living room with a small group of musicians.
