"The camera is magic"
For more than thirty years, photographer Elsa Dorfman (1937) portrayed Americans known and unknown with a rare large-format Polaroid camera in her studio in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Now that Polaroid no longer produces films and she herself is also approaching retirement, she gives friend and filmmaker Errol Morris a glimpse into her varied archive. According to her, this mainly consists of 'B-sides': she made two instant prints of each session, with the portrayed always taking the best one home.
