The Atomic States of America plot
In 2010, America announced the construction of a new nuclear facility, its first in 32 years. The long-held expansion of the use of nuclear energy was thus revived. However, when an earthquake in Japan caused chaos at the Fukushima nuclear plant on March 11, 2011, this form of energy production quickly came under discussion. This documentary takes the viewer on a journey through the communities across America that have lived in close proximity to these factories. It deals with the truths and mysteries surrounding nuclear energy, and raises the question of whether humans can responsibly split the atom.
