Suriname Revisited plot
On November 25 it will be exactly forty years ago that Suriname became independent. For the Surinamese lawyer Lilian Gonçalves a dream came true. But a few years later, that dream turned into a nightmare. She lost her brother in the military coup and her husband shortly after in the December murders. She fled to the Netherlands and embarked on a lifelong struggle for justice. Martijn Blekendaal follows in this documentary Lilian Gonçalves as she returns to Suriname after years in a last attempt to breathe new life into the process of the December murders.
