The boxes in the filing cabinets of the National Institute for War Documentation are filled with countless honor rolls of resistance fighters from the Second World War. No Hannie Schaft or Gerrit Kleinveld, but 'nameless' like Lolle Rondaan or Leo Frijda. They are buried in the Honorary Cemetery in the dunes of Bloemendaal, along with a large number of other men and women who were murdered in the war. The dead had a father and mother, brothers and sisters, were engaged or had a wife and children. The documentary tells the story of some of these people. The film is not a reconstruction of a resistance history. Sisters, brothers and children of the dead speak on camera about the poignant events of the past. The cemetery occupies an important place in their lives for most.
