Skip Day plot

When Pahokee — a small, predominantly African-American industrial town in Florida — wakes up on Monday morning, the seniors aren't going to school, but are getting ready for a day at the beach. It's Skip Day, the Monday after the prom, and according to tradition, classes are skipped. Dozens of students drive the hundred kilometers to the coast. It is a rite of passage into the new life that is ahead.
