Seed Warriors plot
In the remote Norwegian town of Longyearbyen, on the Svalbard Archipelago far above the Arctic Circle, the world's first global seed bank has just opened. Some 4.5 million seed samples will be stored to ensure biodiversity. A sort of 'Noah's barn', as it were. But is that dream of global food security achievable? If one expects a temperature increase of at least 2 degrees by 2050, which threatens to reduce food production by 30%? At the same time, global demand for food will have doubled by then. Scientists and climate researchers provide more information about this ambitious project in 'Seed Warriors'.
