Schreeuwen of Zwijgen plot
The Sinti - Gypsies, as the 'citizens' call them - are a people with a tragic past, but also with a strong will to survive. They have faced suspicion from the civilian population for centuries, culminating in the persecution under the Third Reich. It has made togetherness, pride, strong family ties and age-old norms and values the pillars of their culture. Lalla, inhabitant of a trailer park, fights for a better future for her people and teaches her children to be proud of their identity. Zoni, whose entire family died in Auschwitz, made a career in civil society and in the documentary, together with Lalla's father Hannes, goes back to places from both their pasts.
