Ronaldo plot

"Astonishing. Intimate. Definitive."

For the very first time, the world is going behind closed doors, accessing the man Cristiano Ronaldo, as he really is, in a lively and candid way; footballer, father, family man and friend. Through in-depth conversations, many football clips and never-before-seen archive footage, this documentary offers an insight into the sporting and personal life of the three-time Ballon D'Or winner, at the height of his career. Before shooting 'Ronaldo', the makers of 'Senna' and 'Amy' were given unlimited access to his intimate circle and the wings of his sport for 14 months.

Entertaining but very superficial documentary, which gives little insight into the (emotional) life of mister Ronaldo. He knows how to maintain the myth that has been built up around him. The scenes at his home, and especially those where we see him with his son, are the best. The people around him are mostly annoying, with the highlight being his agent, who comes across as a complete idiot and is constantly talking nonsense.

Pleasant documentary about the life of a star footballer. One of the few documentaries that made an impression on me.

Ronaldo is a strange person, but after watching this documentary I think his fame has made him that way a little bit.

He is indeed a bit narcissistic, but at the same time a good father and a real family man. It is nice to see how a footballer lives and how he feels. After watching this documentary I have more respect for him. I think that life as a star footballer is not always roses and moonshine, as some people think.

Gentle, respectful portrait of top footballer Cristiano Ronaldo in which he is often seen with his son Cristiano Jr. to underline his exemplary parenting. Only family and friends are featured in the narcissistic documentary that of course contains beautiful football pictures, but is only interesting when Ronaldo is faced with a setback. The Champions League final between Real Madrid and city rivals Atletico, the disastrous 2014 World Cup and the election of player of the year (with the inevitable Lionel Messi as major competitor) at the end of the calendar year are all covered. Food for fans, not enough depth for the more critical football fan.
