Reformation plot
Documentary maker Jeanette Groenendaal moved to a strongly religious village at the age of seven. In this hamlet along the river in the Dutch Bible Belt she was addressed in the 1970s as an import child from Utrecht and feared as a 'foreign foreigner' and as a 'city whore'. At the heavily reformed primary school the schoolmaster prayed for her; she was the devil's daughter and the class was raving about him en masse. Groenendaal ('Dutch Cocaine Factory') returns 38 years later to film a personal investigation into the scapegoat mechanism.
