Paavo Nurmi - Mies ja Aika plot

Paavo Nurmi (1897-1973) was one of the best runners of all time and won countless victories. For a while, his name was synonymous with speed, endurance and elegance: if you did something Nurmi, you did it right. Yet his story also has a sad side: he was accused of having broken his amateur status. Nurmi fell into disgrace and died, although he is fondly remembered. The film is not so much a portrait of the athlete, but more an image of his time. Nurmi is a symbol here, a figurehead.
