Os Carvoeiros plot

Os Carvoeiros is about the communes of loggers in Brazil. The mainly illiterate workers lead a nomadic life. They work and live where a large field has to be cleared. The realization that their profession is a dead end fills them with melancholy but also with relief. 'Fortunately, my children do not have to do this work for fifty years', is a statement that is repeated several times. The work is dirty, heavy and very poorly paid.
