Onbekende Kinderen plot

On September 13, 1944, the 52 children of the Westerbork orphanage were deported to camp Bergen-Belsen. It concerned a group of toddlers and preschoolers whose identity was not established. In the camp administration they were therefore listed as Gruppe Unbekannte Kinder. All but one of the children survived Bergen-Belsen and Theresienstadt, where they were liberated in April 1945. Back in the Netherlands, the group fell apart. After that, hardly any attention was paid to their (camp) past. They themselves were too young to know what had happened to them during the war years. In the documentary, eight of these 'unknown children' talk about the fragments they remember from their parents, the transport and the camps, about the course of their lives and how it was influenced by the Second World War, and about the search for where they come from, who they are.
