Nous plot

The regional train connection RER B crosses Paris and the suburbs from north to south. Alice Diop stops at some stations and meets a Malian car mechanic in Le Bourget, a patient district nurse in Drancy (her sister), the writer Pierre Bergounioux in Gif-sur-Yvette and participants in a deer hunt in the Chevreuse valley. Diop interweaves her calm observations with memories of her Senegalese father, who arrived in France as an immigrant in the 1960s, and of her mother, whom she hardly sees in old family photos and films. Her mother is at most a silhouette on the edge of the frame, ready to disappear, Diop sees to her horror. She corrects that image in this documentary.
