Cathy Berberian (1925-1983) was a versatile singer. Berberian, the 'callas of the avant-garde', played an important role in the development of vocal music in the 1950s and 1960s. She broke through vocal taboos, developed new ways of using the voice, renewed the traditional recital with her sense of theater and humor. In the film, archive footage of various performances, stories from colleagues, memories of her daughter paint a nuanced picture of life and work.
