Mother, I Am Suffocating. This Is My Last Film about You. plot

The people on the dusty streets of Lesotho stare inquisitively at the young woman who, like Jesus, carries a wooden cross on her back. She looks back at them, at the mystical landscapes, a flock of sheep and a pair of hands that just keep knitting. A raucous voiceover – aware that it is not being heard by the audience – arranges the flow of images into a cinematic lament. In an intense, painful way a light is shed on an African migration story: from a personal farewell from a mother to a politically conscious defection from the motherland.
