Misslukt plot

She had it all: a beautiful body, a successful modeling career and the title of Miss Universe Netherlands. Yet Stephanie Tency felt anything but beautiful. After countless (failed) cosmetic surgeries and growing insecurity, she decides to fight her self-image and the pressure of the beauty industry. In this documentary, the influencer reveals the harsh reality of her quest for perfection and exposes a larger social problem: the obsession with appearance. Will she finally learn to accept herself as she is?

Miss Universe Stephanie Tency, now 33, has undergone plastic surgery many times to conform to an ideal image, but in this documentary she reflects on the physical consequences of these procedures and on the reasons for her obsession with “being seen”. We see fragments from vlogs that record the painful process of the operation and rehabilitation, and deep emotions surface during conversations with her parents and psychologist Noura Soussi. The fact that this documentary is solely about Stephanie Tency illustrates the irony of this entire undertaking. She hopes to make it clear to young girls that they don’t have to go out of their way to be “seen”, but she does so mainly by drawing attention to herself. A well-intentioned, but strange, sad documentary by a woman who is not yet mentally ready to lecture others on this subject.
