Mercado de Futuros plot
The Greek poet Simonides of Ceos is known for his fabulous memory and as the founder of the art of recording memories in the mind. In Mercado de Futuros, reflections by Simonides run like a thread through uncommented recordings, which reflect on the past, present and future. The images of trade in the past are interspersed with those of trade in the future: on a real estate exchange, men in suits sell houses that only exist on paper, and on an options exchange, abstract numbers change owners in nervous telephone conversations. In between, not only Simonides, but also timeless works of art and the bold market trader Jésus Castro comment on an increasingly hectic society.
