After the communist rule of Pol Pot, the current Prime Minister Hun Sen seemed the great promise for the Cambodians. But their hopes were shattered. Plans by major property developers endanger homes in the capital Phnom Penh and rice plantations in the country, driving their owners to despair. Justice seems to be hard to find in these Kafkaesque situations, which are accompanied by brutal violence against the civilians. In the Boeung Kak district of Phnom Penh, where many families have been forced to leave their homes, neighbors are courageously fighting the government in hopes of keeping their homes, or at least getting decent ones in return. An unequal struggle, the women are all too well aware of that.
