Mai Shou plot
Controversial portrait of the young Niu Hongmiao, who earns her money as a prostitute in the eastern part of Beijing. To help her parents and care for her seriously ill father, she leaves for the countryside during the wheat harvest, where she leaves behind all her savings. The film jumps back and forth in time, showing the complex double life that Niu Hongmiao tries to maintain.
