Life and Deaths of Max Linder plot

Searching for documentation on Max Linder, the director found a suitcase sealed for 100 years in an abandoned house, containing a 1926 film by an unknown filmmaker. The film depicts Max Linder, the first international film star ever to be revered in France, throughout Europe, and Hollywood. This pioneer of early silent film comedy was a mentor to Charlie Chaplin. Max miraculously escaped death five times. And finally, at the height of his artistic career, he and his beloved wife committed double suicide. How was this possible?
