Liesbeth List - Heb Me Lief plot

She dares everything with her make-up on, says Liesbeth List, alias Elly Driessen in front of the camera. In this documentary we see one of Dutch rare divas without her perfect mask. The singer/chansonnière tells about her loveless youth, in which her mother committed suicide and her father - at the instigation of her new stepmother - gave her away to an ultimately warm foster family. Liesbeth List tells the appearance unmoved, but later in the film, when she meets her New Zealand half sister, who did grow up with her father, it becomes clear how deep the wounds are. The portraits of List as a perfect professional and loving mother are sketched in the images of the preparations for List's theater show Closer to Liesbeth, and of the studio recordings of a CD with Alderliefste. It contains a moving scene with her artistic other half Ramses Shaffy - with whom she has always remained in love - who, despite his weak physique, sings a song perfectly in one go.
