Li Wen Man You Dong Hu plot

East Lake (Dong Hu) is a controversial nature reserve in the Chinese city of Wuhan, threatened by the construction of amusement parks, luxury high-rises and possibly even an airport. 'East Lake is getting smaller and smaller, but in my memory it just gets bigger', a friend wrote to the Canadian-based Chinese filmmaker Luo Li in response to these developments. The film explores the meaning of those words: how it is more connected to the people, and how the situation gives rise to reflection on identity and survival in contemporary China.
