Les Demoiselles de Nankin plot
What is it like to study in China today? Director Camille Ponsin spends a year with two female students on a university campus where no fewer than 40,000 students live. Immediately upon arrival, the freshmen are given a military uniform and are immersed in strict rules, nationalist slogans and party political meetings. A senior watches over the newcomers and guides them in their studies. The communist party still seems to be calling the shots here. But in the evenings in their rooms the students talk openly and critically about their dreams, sex and movies, politics and education. An intimate glimpse into the life of China's new generation.
