Landschappen Waar Niemand van Weet (II) plot
Through the eyes of graphic artist Jan Hendrix in Mexico, photographer Malick Sidibé in Mali and artist/painter Frans Walon in Amsterdam, this documentary attempts to bring about an experience of the concept of landscape in the broadest possible sense. Jan Hendrix, screen printer in Mexico, literally zooms in further and further. In the end only a leaf or a branch remains of the panoramic views. After years of photographing portraits, 76-year-old Malian photographer Malick Sidibé decides to turn people around. He wants a landscape of back sides. Painter/drawer Frans Walon is looking for the inner landscape of people in Amsterdam. The stories of the three artists are recorded in an intimate, associative way through camera work and editing. A way that refers to the art of filmmaking itself and the viewer's experience: you look with your eyes, see with your feeling.
