Landfall plot
"When the world falls apart, who do we become?"
Hurricane María made landfall in Puerto Rico on September 16, 2017. Initially 64 victims were reported by the authorities, but this number had to be adjusted to 2,975 less than a year later. Many people died as a result of inadequate assistance, lack of water or electricity. And Puerto Rico was already struggling with another disaster: $72 billion in debt and the harsh austerity measures imposed by the US on the island. Based on insights into daily life, filmmaker Cecilia Aldarondo paints a layered portrait of the aftermath of those two disasters.
