La Casa de Mi Abuela plot
When her parents work, 6-year-old Marina is expected to conform to the daily rituals that determine the conservative and religious life of her 75-year-old grandmother Marita in a dull industrial town in Alicante, Spain. Simple actions are the starting point from which the director zooms in on the confrontations between Marina's uninhibited rebellion and Marita's underlying pain and growing despair. La Casa de Mi Abuela tenderly shows the bickering, the nevertheless undiminished love and the distraction that Grandma finds for the fact that the house where she has lived for 52 years has to be demolished.
