Kleine Delicten plot
For Minor Crimes, director Jaap van Hoewijk followed a series of 'home, garden and kitchen affairs' at the police judge in Haarlem. This search for truth, guilt and punishment takes place entirely within the walls of the courtroom, where judge and suspect sit directly opposite each other. The verdict follows immediately after the presentation. After barely twenty minutes, the suspect is often outside again, whether or not with a conviction in his pocket. Shame, regret, denial, bravado and routine all pass by. They are stories about ordinary people who have lost their way, are unlucky or just seem incorrigible. The viewer sympathizes with the suspect, but sometimes also sits in the judge's chair and is thus confronted with his own (pre)judgments.
