Jaar 1: Alan Reeve na Dertig Jaar Opsluiting plot

Seelen follows British multiple murderer Reeve for a year after his release from a Dutch prison. The director, who had visited Reeve for years during his detention, approaches his main character with great sympathy. Painful questions remain. In the legal battle against Reeve's imminent deportation to England, where he had escaped prison in 1980, Seelen clearly sides with the ex-convict. Using archive material and photographs, he sketches Reeve's childhood damaged by violence. He stages experts who ask for Reeve's understanding.
