In God We Trust plot

"Who pays for his crime?"

Eleanor Squillari couldn't believe it when her boss, businessman Bernie Madoff, was arrested in 2008 for large-scale fraud. For twenty-five years she worked as his secretary and he was like family to her. But like many of Madoff's employees, she had no idea what had happened on the famed seventeenth floor of New York's Lipstick Building. Madoff was found there with some accomplices to have defrauded his customers for 65 billion dollars via so-called Ponzi investments. She was there when the FBI burst in and answered when the first victims called—often ordinary people who had lost their hard-earned pensions... Looking back, Squillari sees what kind of person Madoff really was.
