Il Viaggio Più Lungo, Gli Ebrei di Rodi plot

Through the testimonies of Alberto Israel, Stella Levi and Sami Modiano, the documentary examines exactly what happened to the Italian Jews on Rhodes from fascism, the introduction of racial laws to the takeover of power by the Nazis. The story focuses on the deportation to Auschwitz from which the title was derived. On July 24, 1944, 1,820 Italian Jews from Rhodes were taken by boat to Athens to be deported to Auschwitz where they finally arrived on August 16, 1944. Only 150 survivors made the return journey.
