Hockney plot
Hockney is the exploration of one of the most important artists of his generation. For the first time, David Hockney has given access to his personal archive of photos and film. This results in an unparalleled visual diary of his life. This film tells the story of his career, of his working-class childhood in Bradford, where his love of pictures was developed through his admiration for cinema, and of his move to Hollywood, where his lifelong struggle to escape labels ("gay" , 'working class', 'figurative artist') was fully realized. We see his upbringing and life experience that give him the willpower to survive and to create some of the most famous works of the past century.
