Garden of Life plot

The now 82-year-old Leo once liked to travel to unknown places with his wife Riet. But ever since the first signs of Alzheimer's appeared, filmmaker Marco Niemeijer's father-in-law prefers his backyard over any other place. There, among his beloved trees and plants, Leo tries to keep a grip on his increasingly confusing existence. Niemeijer films him for a year, every month and from season to season. Rain or shine, Leo can always be found in his hassle-free refuge.
