On September 16, 2022, Jina Mahsa Amini was arrested by the Iranian morality police for wearing her headscarf incorrectly. She died in custody three days later. Her death sparked outrage, including in Germany. Many exiled Iranians who fled the regime in Iran in the 1970s showed their protest - but also German-Iranian second-generation Iranians such as Jasmin Shakeri, Pegah Ferydoni, Natalie Amiri and Enissa Amani. Together they took to the streets to help their distant homeland to freedom.
