Fairytale of Kathmandu plot

"Not every fairytale has a happy ever after"

Director Neasa Ni Chianáin befriends Irish gay poet Cathal Ó Searcaigh and learns that after a broken relationship he moved to Nepal and found comfort and a second home in Kathmandu, which he visits at least annually. Out of gratitude, he offers financial assistance to the local community. For the poor people of Kathmandu, he is the wild benefactor, a demigod. With great sympathy and enthusiasm Chianáin accepts his invitation to accompany him to his second homeland. The camera is allowed, everything can be filmed. Gradually, Chianáin discovers that Ó Searcaigh's friendship is also experienced in the bedroom. Especially boys aged 16 and 17 repay his support in kind. Her naive admiration for the tormented poet turns into aversion as more boys tell a less beautiful story. A confrontation ensues...
