Facing Genocide: Khieu Samphan and Pol Pot plot

From 1975-1979, Khieu Samphan was one of the top leaders of the Khmer Rouge terror regime. Thirty years later, he is being prosecuted for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. What goes on in the mind of someone responsible for such massive crimes? David Aronowitsch and Staffan Lindberg have followed the former head of state for over a year. We are introduced to Khieu Samphan, his way of thinking, his way of life and his close relationship with Pol Pot. We also meet Socheat, Khieu Samphan's wife with whom he has been together for 40 years. The voice of the victims is represented by Theary Seng, lawyer and victim of the Khmer Rouge. Khieu Samphan's lawyer is Jacques Vergès and is also known as the devil's advocate.
