F. Deneyer plot

Portrait of Francis Deneyer, a 67-year-old undertaker in De Marolles, the oldest working-class district of Brussels. After the death of his wife Lisette 12 years ago, he spends his days lonely in his funeral shop and the small space behind it, which is full of coffins. He is one of the cheapest entrepreneurs, the relatives have to come to his small shop, full of artificial flowers, to arrange the funeral. He has seen the population change, his clientele now being mainly poor immigrants, but Deneyer continues, albeit not unwillingly, to do his venerable work.
